Recent Samuel Solutions winner, Ryan Taylor, a Quality Control Inspector at CAID, a division of Samuel, Son & Co., in Tucson, AZ, came up with an idea to improve production by streamlining the bolt insertion process for installing blind flanges during hydrostatic testing and reducing the number of tools required for installation.
This idea, which has been fully implemented across CAID, has yielded a range of benefits including, improved product quality, reduced operator fatigue and cost savings. It also earned Ryan Samuel Solutions’ fourth prize and $5000.
“It’s exciting to innovate and improve production processes,” shares Ryan of why he wanted to participate in Samuel Solutions. “Work isn’t enjoyable if you aren’t continuously improving it and this program allows you to participate in making your own working conditions better.”
